Frequently Asked Questions

Does waxing hurt?

Pain levels depend on your tolerance. If you’re concerned about pain or have sensitive skin, you can take an ibuprofen or aspirin approximately 30 minutes before your appointment to help alleviate discomfort.

Do you wax men?

Yes, both men and women who want smoother looking skin can get waxed at Zuzace Esthetix.

Do you have an age requirement to get waxed?

Yes, all clients wanting to get waxed must be the age of 15 and older. Minors must be at least 15 years old and always accompanied by a parent or a legal guardian. Prior to receiving any treatments for minors, consent must be signed by the parents or guardians.

Why should I wax vs. shaving, electrolysis, or laser?

Regular waxing causes hair to regrow more slowly, finer, and sparsely. Hair is cut during shaving, however the roots of the hair remain intact. As a result, the undesired hair may leave razor bumps and grow back more quickly. Laser and electrolysis hair removal can be costly and may not be suitable for everyone.

How long can I expect my wax to last?

Individuals differ depending on their hair growth. Your freshly waxed skin should last one to two weeks on average. Over time, regular waxing may weaken the hair follicles, resulting in less frequent and thinner hair growth.

Is waxing safe for all skin types?

All skin types can safely get waxed, however those with sensitive skin or using specific medications should speak with their esthetician or a medical professional beforehand.

Are there any risks to waxing?

Waxing is very safe when done by a licensed professional. People differ according to their skin type. Redness, discomfort, irritation, and infrequently, ingrown hairs, can all be symptoms of sensitive areas. By following the right preparation and after, these can be reduced. Consult your esthetician or a medical professional in advance if you have concerns about any particular skin issues or medications.

Can I get waxed if I’m on Retin-A, Accutane, or other medications?

It’s always best to consult your physician in advance if you have any serious concerns. It’s recommended that you stop using prescribed treatments, such as Retin-A or Differin, for seven days before your waxing appointment. Since Accutane can be dangerous, therefore we do not wax anyone who is on Accutane for your protection. Additional medications to be mindful of that may impact the integrity of your skin are lactic acid, glycolic acid, benzoyl peroxide, salicylic acid, alpha hydroxyzl acid, Vitamin A, prescribed exfoliating scrubs, antibiotics, hormonal pills, radiation, and chemotherapy drugs. It’s important to let your esthetician know about any current medication you’re using. By doing this, we’ll be able to provide you with a safe waxing experience.

What brand of wax do you use?

Zuzace Esthetix is currently using Berodin. This wax is truly the ultimate choice in the industry. Thanks to advanced polymer technology, it offers exceptional gentleness on your skin while ensuring powerful and effective hair removal.

Can I still wax if I have had a facial, tanned, sunburn, or a tattoo?

Facial - Yes, if you had a standard facial that consists of a cleanse, steam, and exfoliating mask. A wax service will not be available to you for at least seven days if you had a specialist facial that included an alpha (AHA) or beta (BHA) hydroxy peel, microdermabrasion, or any other deep exfoliation procedure.

Tanned - No, waxing while not waiting the appropriate 24-48 hours after a tan can increase  your risk of becoming sunburned. Waxing will also remove the tan since it exfoliates the skin by removing the outermost layer of dead skin cells.

Sunburn - No we don’t wax on sunburned areas. This can be dangerous and damaging to your skin.

It’s normal to desire to flaunt a newly acquired tattoo. We do not, however, apply wax to any body parts that have recently received a tattoo. Wax application can

result in skin damage and other possible risks because the skin is already sensitive.

If you have any broken, open, or damaged skin, we advise you to wait for it to heal completely and correctly before receiving waxing services.

Can you get a massage before or after waxing?

No, after waxing, the skin becomes extremely sensitive, and the friction from the massage may cause irritation, inflammation, and even ingrown hairs. Additionally, we advise against scheduling a massage prior to your waxing appointment. Prior to waxing, massaging can make the skin more sensitive and reduce the effectiveness of the wax.

Do you allow walk-ins?

Yes, although we might not always have room for walk-ins. For a guaranteed service at the time you need it, please make reservations ahead of time.

What is your cancellation policy?

Cancellation must be made 48 hours prior to the scheduled appointment to avoid any fees. If a cancellation is made within 24 hours of the appointment or if an appointment is missed, a fee of 100% will be charged to the account. All appropriate fees will be charged as per the Reschedule/Cancellation fee, regardless of the circumstances.

Can I get waxed if I’m on my menstrual cycle?

Yes, getting waxed during your menstrual cycle is still possible. Do keep in mind that you can feel more discomfort and that the waxed region will be more sensitive. If you’re having your private areas waxed, we do require that you wear a tampon.

Can I get wax while pregnant?

Congrats on your pregnancy! Yes, however because of your body 's hormonal fluctuations, you might feel more sensitive. We advise you to speak with your physician if you’re in the last two months of your pregnancy before scheduling an appointment.

What’s the difference between a Bikini, Bikini Strip, Brazillian, and Hollywood wax?

Bikini Strip - Remove hair that protrudes past the panty line or thigh crease.

Bikini Full - Remove as much or as little hair from the front as you choose.

Brazilian - Remove the majority of the pubic hair, and a little tiny strip of hair remains in the front.

Hollywood - Remove all pubic hair, leaving the area bare.

Can I bring my children with me?

Unfortunately, we do not permit kids to enter our spa, unless they are a client and under the supervision of a parent or legal guardian.

Can someone accompany me inside the treatment room?

We ask that only the client and esthetician be present in order to provide the best and efficient service, however, we do require a parent or legal guardian to be present with their minor. Please be considerate and keep your voice down so as not to disturb other clients.

When should I wax if I have an event coming up?

We advise scheduling two wax sessions prior to the event date if this is your first time. Approximately four weeks before the event, followed by one to two weeks before. This gives your skin time to adapt and enables appropriate maintenance. For our returning or experienced clients, we advise scheduling one or two weeks before the event. Please remember that each person has a unique hair growth pattern. For some. More visits could be necessary.

Is waxing worth it?

Waxing is definitely worth it if you adore the thought of having smooth, low-maintenance skin. Compared to shaving, it saves time, lowers the chance of razor bumps, and over time, regular waxing will keep you hair free for longer.

Can I use numbing cream before I get wax?

Estheticians strongly advise against using numbing creams. Numbing creams may induce allergic or irritating reactions, or they may interfere with the application of the wax.

What should I do to prepare myself for waxing?

Avoid drinking caffeine as it will make your skin more sensitive to discomfort and make the session more uncomfortable.

Gently exfoliate your skin a day or two prior to your visit to get rid of dead skin cells.

To ensure that the wax adheres effectively. Let your hair grow out to a minimum length of ¼ inch.

Lotions and oils can interfere with the wax, so avoid using them the day of your visit.

To reduce discomfort and/or prevent irritation, dress comfortably in loose-fitting clothing.

For additional information, please review our Pre-care and Post-care for further guidance.

What should I do to care for myself after waxing?

After waxing, avoid sun exposure, saunas, and hot showers for at least 24 to 48 hours.

To keep your skin hydrated, apply a gentle, fragrance-free moisturizer.

After a few days, gently exfoliate your skin to avoid ingrown hairs.

To avoid irritation and discomfort, dress in loose-fitting clothes.

See our Pre and Post Care Guide for additional guideline cares.

When can I wax?
